How verification works
TETCHA shows three honest trust tiers on every credential displayed on a teacher profile. No tier claims more rigour than it actually delivers.
We query a real public teaching register directly (for example the Ontario College of Teachers, Alberta Teachers' Association, BC Teacher Regulation Branch, UK Teaching Regulation Agency, International Baccalaureate). The match between the registration number and the person's legal name is checked by machine. We show the sync date so you know when it was last confirmed.

- A public register exists for the credential and the teacher is listed on it.
- Important
- No cost to the teacher.
No public register exists for this credential. TETCHA contacts the issuing institution — a university, ministry, or previous school — through an official channel and confirms the document is genuine. We record the contact method and the date of confirmation.
- When it applies
- No public register available; the teacher requests verification and a TETCHA administrator follows up.
- Important
- This is a paid upgrade. The badge only appears after confirmation — it never appears while a request is “pending” or “in progress”.
The document was uploaded by the teacher. Their identity is verified through government ID and a live selfie, but the credential itself has not been independently checked.

- Default state of a newly added credential.
- Important
- We show this tier clearly in grey so employers never assume an unverified credential has been checked.
What TETCHA does not do
- We never claim a credential has been verified when it has not.
- We do not replace the employer's own reference calls, background checks, or interviews.
- We do not assign a single overall “score” to a teacher. Each credential carries its own tier.
