Accessibility at TETCHA
Last updated: July 27, 2026
TETCHA is committed to making our platform usable by everyone, including people with disabilities. This statement is maintained by TETCHA and sets out our conformance commitments, how we implement them, and how you can flag a barrier.
1. Standards we target
- Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA — published by the W3C, the international reference for web accessibility.
- Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA) — Integrated Accessibility Standards Regulation (IASR), s. 14: new and significantly refreshed web content must meet WCAG 2.0 Level AA at minimum. TETCHA targets 2.1 AA.
- EN 301 549 (Europe) and Section 508 (United States) — aligned to the extent applicable.
2. Conformance status
Conformant (self-assessed) with WCAG 2.1 Level AA across the core surfaces: marketing, applicant portal, sign-up, opportunities, portfolio, admin dashboard.
The most recent internal review was completed on July 27, 2026 using axe-core, manual keyboard testing, and screen-reader testing on NVDA (Windows) and VoiceOver (macOS/iOS). An independent audit is scheduled for every major release.
3. What we do to meet the bar
- Semantic structure (one <h1>, correct heading order, ARIA landmarks).
- Meaningful alternative text for informative images; alt="" for decorative ones.
- Minimum contrast 4.5:1 for text, 3:1 for components — colour tokens reviewed systematically.
- Tap targets of at least 44×44 CSS pixels on mobile.
- Full keyboard operability, visible focus indicators, logical focus order.
- Associated form labels, explicit error messaging, and correction suggestions.
- Bilingual English/French UI with a dynamic lang= attribute.
- Captions and transcripts for uploaded teaching demo videos.
- Animations that respect prefers-reduced-motion.
- Accessible Radix/shadcn primitives for dialogs, dropdowns, and combo boxes.
4. Known limitations
Some job postings are imported from third-party sites; their free-text body is passed through as authored and may not always meet every heading or contrast criterion. Our pipeline flags such cases and normalises them on re-scrape.
PDF documents uploaded by candidates and employers are not remediated by TETCHA. We publish accessible-authoring guidance to anyone uploading documents.
5. Accessible formats and communication supports
In line with IASR (AODA) s. 12, TETCHA provides accessible formats and communication supports on request, at no additional cost to the requester, within a reasonable timeframe that takes the person's accessibility needs into account.
Write to accessibility@tetcha.online with your request and preferred format (large print, plain text, HTML, tagged PDF, etc.).
6. Feedback process (required under AODA)
We welcome accessibility feedback on our service. You can reach us by:
- Email: accessibility@tetcha.online
- Contact form: /contact
- Postal mail: TETCHA — Accessibility, c/o DPO, Toronto, Ontario, Canada.
We acknowledge feedback within 2 business days and provide a substantive response within 15 business days. A public description of this process is available on this page.
7. Multi-year accessibility plan
TETCHA maintains a multi-year plan describing its strategy to prevent and remove barriers. It is reviewed at least every five years and is available in accessible formats on request.
8. Procurement and training
Accessibility requirements are built into our software and content procurement. All staff and contractors who deal with users or publish content receive training on the IASR and the Ontario Human Rights Code, refreshed whenever there are significant changes.
This statement is a voluntary commitment by TETCHA based on the standards cited above; it is not an independent certification. It is reviewed at every major release and at least annually.
